We had an incident the other day where we went to a fast charger and plugged the van in to give us some more miles to get home. We used the fast 350amp charger meaning we only had to be there for 10 mins to get another 50 miles.
All went well, the charger started and we got up to the intended amount of miles so as normal we stopped the charge and went to detatch the charger. It wouldn't come out, we didn't pull hard or anything, so we pressed to detach button again, no difference. We contacted support who said lock / unlock the van and press the detach button a couple of times. No difference. It wouldn't release. So the Renault support referred us to the RAC who for no reason charged us a £160 call out fee, we do have road side assist with Renault. Anyway we waited 4 hours for the RAC to turn up, nice guy who asked us what the situation was and what we had done. He then asked for the bonnet to be opened and basically put his finger in the place above the back of the charger connector and manually released the lock. The charger came out. Job done.
Now I'm writing this blog because we searched the internet for how to manually release the lock for the charger but couldn't find anything anywhere on how to do it. A couple of places said use a screw driver but I couldn't see a place where you could insert a screw driver and who wants to put a screw driver into a electrical socket?
